The MR-24® roof system is specifically designed for consistent weathertight performance under demanding conditions.
The MR-24® roof system is attached to the building's structure with a special clip-and-tab assembly formed into the double-lock seam. Because the tab can move within the clip, the entire roof can expand and contract freely without compromising structural integrity. Butler's exclusive Pittsburgh double-lock standing seam (shown below) assures consistent weathertight performance-virtually eliminating leaks.
Independent surveys show that the MR-24® roof system is the most specified standing-seam roof on the market, with more than 200 million square metres installed since its introduction in 1969.
Because the MR-24® roof system is metal and moves freely under the forces of expansion and contraction, additional insulation thickness will not cause roof deterioration as commonly happens with conventional built-up roofs. Also, when metal roofs are installed, insulation often is crushed at points where the roof is fastened to the structural members. At these points, a thermal short circuit is created. The MR-24® roof system has special thermal blocks to rectify this problem.
